Founder and Principal Consultant of PosAbility, Katrina is a psychologist and experienced teacher with over 25 years experience working with children and their families.

Katrina holds full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and has taught both primary and secondary students across a range of educational settings.

Katrina adopts a holistic approach to her services with a strong child-centred focus. She has extensive experience assessing and working with children and adolescents with a range of special needs. She has a particular interest in the assessment and management of learning and behavioural difficulties such as; intellectual disability, developmental delay, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, attention deficit disorders (ADHD), PDA and oppositional defiance disorder. She is also experienced in assessing and working with gifted and twice exceptional. Katrina has lived experience as a parent of neurodiverse children and combines her knowledge of a Psychologist, Teacher and Parent to share insight and practical strategies to best support children in reaching their potential.

Katrina has spoken at a number of conferences and events on the topics of Executive Functioning, ADHD, Interpreting Psychometric Assessments, Supporting children with Specific Learning Disorders, Essentials of Mathematics Intervention, Tier 3 Intervention and Understanding and Supporting childhood behavioural challenges. She is a board approved supervisor and offers supervision, training and mentoring to Psychologist and other allied health or educational professionals.

Katrina also has a particular interest in how a child’s self esteem and emotional well being can affect their learning and behaviour at school and home. She is trained in a range of counselling techniques and psychological therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Play Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Behaviour modification and Interpersonal Therapy, working to overcome anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties and other emotional barriers to maximise the child’s ability and enable them to reach their potential in the social and academic domains.

Katrina is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) and is involved in the association’s ongoing Professional Development Program, which requires regular participation in professional development courses and training. She is registered as a provider with Medicare and Private Health Funds.
